Dido "It's Daunting But So Exciting To Be Back"

One of the UK's biggest selling female artists of all time is back with a brand new album.

Since the release of her 1999 debut album "No Angel" Dido has sold an incredible 29 million albums worldwide. And four years on since her last release, Dido is back with 'Girl Who Got Away'.

The London born singer-songwriter launched her latest release in front of music industry VIPS, at London's Arts Club last week and speaking to me afterwards Dido confessed " It's just lovely to be back. It's both daunting and exciting to be back. I actually pulled the album together recently as I'd written most of it before I had my son Stanley, so it still feels fresh to me.  I just hope someone other than Stanley likes the material now..!"

Guests at the Mayfair launch were treated to 6 cuts from the new album followed by a surprise acoustic performance of new single "No Freedom" as well the massive hits White Flag and Thank You.  And I can confirm that not only is Dido sounding amazing but the new material is certainly some of her best;

"I just hope people will enjoy it .It's pretty amazing for me to be standing here 14 years on and still be able to put a record out, so I just feel very lucky. It's not like I've made that many records that it be comes very boring, you know it's only my fourth album so it's still a big deal for me to write, record and release an album."

In the past two years, another UK female artist, namely Adele, has gone on to experience multi-million album sales worldwide and Dido is full of praise for the "Someone Like You" star;

"Adele's voice is just killer. She is just so brilliant. I'm such a huge fan of hers and I've said it many times over. I just think she proves that people love great songs sung by an absolutely stunning voice…people really respond to proper music. I wish her all the best at the Grammys, totally.."

Sony release Dido's new single NO Freedom on February 24th with the album following March 4th  and after listening to her stunning live vocal at the album launch, I had to ask if she's planning some live dates later this year?

"I really hope so.  I got a little flavour tonight of singing live again and I just love it, it's like you sit down and you've got your guitar and it's a pretty happy place to be. I've had my adventures in between records and then I record it and then you know, I get really proud of it and just want to get it out there."
