Clive Davis "The Thing That Moved Whitney The Most Was Music"

It's hard to believe that this February 11th marks the first anniversary since the world lost one of the greatest singers of all time, Whitney Houston.

As we know, Whitney passed away the night before the 2012 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, aged just 48. And from the moment the news broke, Whitney's songs were downloaded in their hundreds of thousands worldwide and her hits were played non-stop on radio.

A new Greatest Hits album "I Will Always Love You - The Best of Whitney Houston' was released by Sony at Christmas, featuring every Whitney hit single as well as a new recording of her 2009 song I Look To You, featuring R Kelly who composed the song and one previously unreleased track.

The album has been produced by Whitney's longtime producer and mentor Clive Davis, one of the industry's most successful and highly respected music executives who also was responsible for signing Whitney to Arista records as a teenager.

Clive came to London recently and sat down with me to exclusively talk about the new Whitney Houston album and the story behind the re-release of I Look To You. We also discussed the story behind the Whitney Bodyguard No.1 "I Will Always Love You," her love of recording, and many aspects of Whitney's career and back-catalogue. And it was obvious to me that here was a man who is still truly devastated by the loss of the one of the biggest selling artists of all time.

I felt truly honoured to have been able to sit down with Clive- so I thank him and RCA/Sony Music for the opportunity.
