Big Night for The Big Reunion "Now we want the tour.."

The stars of the Big Reunion took to the stage at London's Hammersmith/Eventim Apollo last Friday ( 21st February ) for an unforgettable night of nineties and noughties nostalgia.

Eternal, a1, 3T, Damage, Girl Thing and new man band 5th Story delighted thousands of 'pop kids' with a blistering of set of their collective number ones, hits and almost hits. Oh and a cover of Katy Perry's Roar.

Andi Peters introduced the show, which opened with a1 performing their number one hit Take On Me ( yes, it's a cover version) before thousands of screaming fans boarded a metaphorical pop rollercoaster, journeying us back to the good old days of Smash Hits, cassette singles and CD:UK. (And, no, I don't mean the B*Witched rollercoaster. More "The Chart Show" one, minus the dodgy graphics..) And yes "Caught In the Middle" and "Same Old Brand New You" still sound amazing and the band remain a brilliant live act.

3T paid tribute to their late Uncle, Michael Jackson during their set, with childhood photographs of The King of Pop appearing on screen during "I Need You" and in the original video for "Why." The band also wore Bad 25 T shirts and glittery arm-bands, with Taj confirming to me backstage "we wanted to pay tribute to our Uncle by honouring his legacy as both a mentor and Uncle.."

Damage delivered a slick set featuring their biggest hits showcasing some slick moves and on-point vocals during songs like "Tonight" and "Ghetto Romance." An emotional Jade Jones celebrating backstage with partner Emma Bunton who told me "I am so proud of him tonight" she told me.

And yes, Girl Thing finally had their moment, with their performance of "Pure and Simple" and "Last One Standing" resulting in some of the biggest screams of the night. The loudest coming from Kian Egan who admitted to me "I was emotional and felt so proud watching Jodi do what she does best.." And they did a bloomin good job too.

The highly anticipated debut of new man band "5th Story" allowed thousands of fans to once again enjoy the pop anthems "Breathe Again, " "Freak Me," and erm, "Spirit In the Sky."Band member Kavana was beaming backstage admitting "that the love from both the audience and the UK on twitter meant so much.." Dane Bowers added "my vocal could've been better to be honest.."

But it was the return of Eternal that had everyone on their feet. Their effortless vocals ( wow, Easther!) were once again in full effect as hey performed their 1997 number one anthem "I Wanna Be The One" complete with gospel legend BeBe Winans.
A truly spin-tingling moment for all concerned and a reminder of a just good they were and indeed are.
Backstage the sisters celebrated with Laura Mvula and I'm sure Kelle enjoyed herself too. Not that we saw her?

So now we wait for the tour…

Big thanks to Stephen and Sarah from ITV for a rather amazing night. And have a listen to my interviews with the acts below.
